Instructor, Katherine Maloney

16 yrs & up

In this two-day workshop, learn how to sculpt animals in multiple postures such as laying down, leaping, or in motion. We’ll focus on the hollowing method of molding a solid form then cutting open to hollow, allowing the artist to achieve more complex animal forms. Instruction will also include additive sculpting, carving, and texturing methods, with a focus on creating facial details and emotive qualities. We’ll cover important steps such as glazing ideas, firing methods, and mounting the sculptures for display. Katie will work individually with each student to help bring their vision into form, creating an instructive space for beginners and advanced ceramicists alike. Bring images of your favorite animals!  Open to all skill levels.
