The Bay School Community Arts Center offers over 100 classes in a variety of media for adults and children. The following information provides guidance for those enrolling in our classes.
Registration Policy
If you are interested in a class, it is important you register early. In most cases, we determine whether a class will be held based on the minimum enrollment required 12 days in advance of the scheduled class start date. In most cases, registrations will be accepted after this, if the class has met its minimum. Many of our repeating classes are popular and fill up quickly. If a class is full, we encourage you to sign up for a waiting list in the event an opening becomes available. Members receive a 10% discount on class tuition (not materials fees).
You can register online, over the phone, or stop by in person. Payment is due at the time of registration. Scholarships are available for both adults and children; more details are provided below.
To register online, you will be required to set up an account and provide contact information, including a phone number and email address so we can keep you updated on the class status. If you are registering your child, please complete this parent/child information form so you may provide emergency contact and allergy information. We keep this form on file and will request a new form each year to make sure we have your most current information.
Acceptance Policy
All are welcome at The Bay School regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, national or ethnic origins. We do our best to ensure that people of all ages and abilities are able to participate. If you or your child has any special needs for accommodation, we encourage you to contact us. We will be happy to provide reasonable accommodations.
Refund Policy
If you withdraw your enrollment more than 10 business days prior to the class start date, you will be refunded or credited the class fee. Some exceptions apply and will be stated in the course description. Materials fees paid to the instructor will not be refunded unless you have referred a replacement student. NO refunds will be made for withdrawals made 10 business days or less prior to the class start date.
We understand that last-minute emergencies, illnesses, or conflicts come up that are out of one's control; however, due to committed expenses on the part of The Bay School, we cannot make exceptions to this policy.
If The Bay School or instructor cancels the class, a full refund or account credit to another class will be issued.
Course Cancellation
If we must cancel a class for any reason, all participants will be notified and given a full refund or the opportunity to apply their account credit to a future class. In most cases, The Bay School follows Mathews County Public Schools' weather cancellations. Whenever possible, a class cancelled by the instructor or due to weather will be rescheduled and enrolled students offered an alternate date.
Photographs
By attending a class, event, or exhibit, you agree that any photographs taken by staff may be used for promotional purposes. If you do not with your child to be photographed, please note this on the parent/child information form.
Scholarship Applications
Scholarships are available for both adults and children. If interested, please fill out the Scholarship Application form and email it to makeart@bayschoolarts.org.
Some additional information to consider:
Scholarships provide partial or full coverage for tuition
Material fees are not included with any scholarship and must be paid in-full by the student.
Scholarships are limited to two per family per semester. Our Summer Art Camps are pay-what-you-can, and scholarships cannot be used for these.
Though we try to award the maximum number of scholarships available, we cannot guarantee your application will be accepted and a scholarship awarded. We will reach out to all who apply and update you on the status of your scholarship request once a decision has been reached.
Class Evaluations
Your thoughts about each class you take with The Bay School are important to us and our teaching artists. At the end of each class, you will be asked to complete an evaluation. We realize that you may need time to reflect after class completion, so we ask that if you don't complete the evaluation immediately, you return it to us within a few days. The evaluation form can be downloaded here and will also be emailed to you after class. Thank you for your feedback!
Classes may be held outside the normal operating schedule.
